I've always found the Gentoo site, http://www.gentoo.org/, fairly
pleasant to use and I've never had any problems finding info. Probably a
few too many graphics for my liking though. It even looks like it's been
designed - not bad for a bunch of geeks ;-).

It *does* have links that go to the same page. E.g. go to
http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/docs.xml and click on the "User Docs" link
in the navigation bar.

Click on Gentoo Linux/x86 and suddenly the navigation is gone.
